Beyond the Pandemic: Update on Recent Activity at the Department of Labor and Guidance on Moving Forward for Construction Companies

The Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division has been actively investigating compliance under wage and hour laws in Arizona, even in the midst of the pandemic. Examples include:

  • The Department secured a recent $3 million consent judgment against an Arizona drywall contractor, who allegedly failed to pay overtime to workers who received piece rate compensation.
  • One of the very first complaints about a failure to provide emergency paid sick leave as required by the Families First Coronavirus Response Act (“FFCRA”) involved an Arizona company.

This webinar, presented by experienced labor and employment attorney Helen Holden, will cover common compliance questions that arise in the industry under the recently enacted FFCRA, how to avoid misuse or abuse of the leave required under the FFCRA, and avoiding issues with compliance issues under both state and federal wage and hour law.

HRCI and SHRM credits will be available for this presentation, which is presented and sponsored by AWCI-AZ and Spencer Fane LLP.
